Arches, reminiscent of Roman ruins, is an original digital collage, created through a series of layers, using hand-drawn and photographic images with original textures and colors. The layers are manipulated individually to achieve the desired effect. I only occasionally use filters in my work. Some pieces may have as many as one hundred layers.
I have been some sort of artist since I could wield a crayon as a precocious tyke. I've worked for 50 years as a graphic and fine artist, but I fell in love with digital art when I had the first of three thumb joint replacement surgeries. With my hands in casts for three summers in a row, the urge for creative expression overpowered. I quickly discovered that I could push the mouse around and click without much pain, and digital collage emerged.
